Storyline is pretty interesting, personally I feel like its one of the more original ones. Poor Ginny💔
This book had some funny jokes too. 😂 End fight was intense, I had my breath held for poor little Harry. The plot twist always catches me by surprise.
5 starsIt is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities. As always, re-reading Harry Potter in an illustrated version never disappoints me. It makes it even more wonderful and magical. Jim Kay does the most fabulous job creating these illustrations, it's so inspiring. Can't wait to read Prisoner Azkaban!
This was so so so good!!!! I loved all the different aspects of the storyline and how they all came together in the end. I want a house elf....I want Dobby! I loved this book so much and I can not wait to read the next one!!
This was a massive improvement from the first book and proof that you don't have to like the main character to like a book.
The world building (which is what this series is famous for and makes it shine) is put at the forefront. This lets the book shine.
The mystery element really helped elevate it and I loved the inclusion of Ginny joining Hogwarts.
Okay, this isn’t really a “review” in the usual sense. I’ve grown up watching the Harry Potter movies countless times, so the story isn’t new to me. But still — reading the book as an adult (I’m 23 now) was surprisingly fresh and nostalgic. There’s something about this world that just feels cozy. Even though I knew what was going to happen on every page, I was hooked and finished it in two days.I’m not here to talk about the plot, characters, or writing — everyone knows what Harry Potter is about, even if they haven’t read or watched it. For me, this was just about revisiting a big part of my childhood.Felt great. Four stars because it made me feel, and that’s all I wanted.
I never really liked the second installment of the Harry Potter series. I think one of the reasons why I had a hard time understanding the second installment of Harry Potter when I was younger was that it didn't dawn on me that Voldemort could be a younger version or Tom Riddle could have been in your version of Voldemort or just the child version and so as a child watching the movies and reading the book I was very confused with that plot twist. Now rereading it as an adult I definitely understand it but it's still not my favorite one out of all seven installments no honestly I think I was still drink this one last.
It was okay, like it took me a long time to finish this audiobook. The first book I liked it more than this one, but we are continuing this series. The movies are part 3 and 4 my favorites of this entire series.
For me the Harry Potter series is nostalgic. I remember reading Harry Potter when they were first published. For me Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets, has been the turning point when the book started getting darker. The first book had it's share of tense moments, but The Chamber of secrets really gets more into the gore of it. The theme of friendship and comrodery are still there, along with some lighter moments. But you can really get a sense of the rising tension of Lord Voldemort still being present. The terror of what is lurking in the Chamber, the growing panic amongst the students and staff with continuing attacks on children. The them of of discrimination amd the separation of caste that the some purebloods have against those that are of mixed magical and muggle families really starts to appear in the second book. The Chamber of secrets is the launching pad for what is to come in the future books. Reading it as an adult and after watching thr movies, it's interesting to compare the two and to pick up on things that my younger self missed when I first read. Still a really solid book series that continues to still enchant readers of all ages.
In past readings, I was always most critical about Chamber, because it was too safe and similar to Sorcerer's Stone. However, over time I have really grown to appreciate its darker overtones and the genius of Gilderoy Lockhart's character.
