Description

"Mazey Eddings’s writing is authentic, emotional, and intensely romantic! To me, it’s like a Taylor Swift song in book form." - New York Times bestselling author Ali Hazelwood"An unbelievably cute and funny debut about friendship, the expectations of family, and mental health. A Brush with Love fills that itch for a STEMinist rom-com with laughter, slow-burn romance, and toothy puns." - Buzzfeed Nine out of ten dentists agree, Mazey Eddings's rom-com A Brush with Love makes your smile brighter!**not scientifically provenHarper is anxiously awaiting placement into a top oral surgery residency program when she crashes (literally) into Dan. Harper would rather endure a Novocaine-free root canal than face any distractions, even one this adorable. A first-year dental student with a family legacy to contend with, Dan doesn’t have the same passion for pulling teeth that Harper does. Though he finds himself falling for her, he is willing to play by Harper’s rules. So with the greatest of intentions and the poorest of follow-throughs, the two set out to be “just friends.” But as they get to know each other better, Harper fears that trading fillings for feelings may make her lose control and can't risk her carefully ordered life coming undone, no matter how drool-worthy Dan is.Blood, gore, and extra-long roots? No problem. The idea of falling in love? Torture.

"A Brush With Love" by Mazey Eddings (@mazeyeddings)Harper, a dental school student, crashes into Dan, a classmate, literally. From there her world is turned on its head by Dan's presence and obvious interest in Harper. But Harper can't deal with the unexpected and unknown of catching feelings for Dan - her Type A personality and crippling anxiety just won't allow it. Harper insists on being just "friends," much to her girl tribe of BFFs dismay. What happens when you start falling for your friend and your preplanned, perfect life begins to slip away?First, I adore Mazey's writing and how she approaches initiating conversations about mental health and neurodivergence. Mazey writes smart, quick-witted dialogue that often makes me laugh. Both Harper and Dan are fighting their way through debilitating and relatable challenges. The portrayal of Harper's trauma-fueled anxiety was perfection (no pun intended). Anyone who has ever wrestled with anxiety is sure to feel a connection with Harper. Readers struggling with familial expectations and wanting to pursue their own passions will find Dan to be a comfort.I loved every minute of reading ABWL and hated for it to end. Thank God Mazey gave us an epilogue and is writing books for the other members of Harper's girl tribe. (Lizzie's novel just came out and you NEED to read it - "Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake.")Read this is if you like:• forced proximity• cinnamon roll MMC ♥️• hilarious writing • eye-opening mental health conversations• just friends tropeHow spicy?
