Such a fun little novella, and a fun start to a series! Nothing too notable but was still very enjoyable and a nice bite size book

The story, the characters, and the plot—all kept me hooked to their adventures. A captivating, fast-paced, and action-packed read which I finished in around 1-2 sittings. This is the story of a socially awkward killer machine with emotions (which it doesn’t want, really). Someone who wants nothing more than to avoid conversations and just watch entertainment shows, and get through the mission peacefully… yet keeps getting involved, emotionally.It keeps saying it does not care about the humans, but the moment something goes wrong, our Murderbot is ready to risk itself to save them. Very “I hate everyone but also nobody touch them” energy! What made Murderbot so relatable to me was the social awkwardness, the discomfort around people, the wanting to avoid conversations at all costs, and using shows as escapism instead of dealing with actual humans—maybe I am it and it is me ;)The team dynamics were so fun to read because the humans kept trying to understand Murderbot while it just wanted everyone to leave it alone and let it watch its shows in peace. The moment when they said, “See, I told you, he’s shy.” and the Murderbot cringing, was just hilarious.Also, I really liked the fact that beneath all the action and humour, the story quietly touches on freedom and identity too. Like technically Murderbot is supposed to obey govt orders, but it is trying to get away from being chained. To prevent its past from repeating, it’s developing its own thoughts and feelings..Another thing I loved was that the sci-fi never felt too complicated or heavy. It was very easy to get into even if you are not someone who reads sci-fi all the time.With humour, action, found-family vibes, and one extremely relatable socially exhausted Murderbot, I would definitely recommend this one.𝑻𝑳;𝑫𝑹Overall, this was such a fun and weirdly relatable sci-fi read about a socially awkward Murderbot who would rather binge-watch dramas than deal with humans. The audiobook was so quick left me wanting to get the next one ASAP. I love the idea of AI being shy yet murderous. The main character is definitely my kinda robot just wants to be left alone to his entertainment. I look forward to enjoying the rest of this series. #murderbotfan
It kind of felt like I was thrown into the middle of a book instead of the start of one. I wasn't entirely sure what was happening, why it was happening or anything about this futuristic world, really. It wasn't terrible but I did lose interest halfway through.
I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected. Listened to the graphic audio. It was my first graphic audio and kinda fun, though I don't mind regular ones either. The story was interesting. I would have loved to learn a little more about the other characters than the murderbot, but the pacing, commentary and story was great.
