The ideas in this book were excellent, but the execution fell short. Perhaps my expectation of finding something akin to "The Graveyard Book" but more adult and involving gods was misplaced. I initially started reading it as an ebook but quickly switched to the audiobook, which featured a full cast and significantly enhanced my experience, as I found myself getting bored with the written version. The characters appeared one-dimensional, crafted with a singular purpose, and always seemed to have something happening to them rather than driving the narrative. The storyline unfolded as one event after another. While the concept of gods and thoughts in this world was intriguing, I felt that without well-developed characters, everything ended up feeling flat.
