Description
In the popular south eastern Spanish province of Almeria is a quiet little back road that is used daily by dozens or hundreds of ex-pats as they head between the beach and their villas inland. But do they really know about the magical history of this little road?
For as we speed down the A370 towards Garrucha (or up towards Pedro's petrol station at Los Gallardos) we often forget about the first ancient and twisting road between the two villages, the AL150, which heads off at the Alfaix motorway junction towards Turre.
It's an ancient road, one which is more often used by those seeking the pleasure of the quiet rural road rather than anyone in a hurry. But it´s history is intertwined with that of the local villages.
