Description
In the wake of a brutal war, the archangel Raphael and his hunter consort, Elena, are dealing with the treacherously shifting tides of archangelic politics and the people of a battered but not broken city. The last thing their city needs is more death, especially not a death that bears the eerie signature of an insane enemy archangel who cannot—should not—be walking the streets. This hunt must be undertaken with stealth and without alerting their people. It must be handled by those who can become shadows themselves…
Ash is a gifted tracker and a woman cursed with the ability to sense the secrets of anyone she touches. But there's one man she knows all too well without a single instant of skin contact: Janvier, the dangerously sexy Cajun vampire who has fascinated and infuriated her for years. Now, as they track down a merciless killer, their cat-and-mouse game of flirtation and provocation has turned into a profound one of the heart. And this time it is Ash's secret, dark and terrible, which threatens to destroy them both.
Nalini Singh, the New York Times best-selling 'alpha author of paranormal romance' (Booklist), returns to her stunning world as it braces itself for destruction.

View AllHaving been a fan of Nalini Singh for years, I have been dying to make room to read this and I am so wanting to read the next one too... but I have deadlines to meet for the blog so I have to keep it for a reward read ;)So what did I think? The Guild Hunter Series is starting to become my favourite of [a:Nalini Singh|71688|Nalini Singh|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1423312512p2/71688.jpg] and the Psy- Changling series has been my top book series for years, I go back and re-read Nalini's books when I feel down, need to reset my book mojo after getting into a slump. So I think this book was one of my favourites due to being smitten with Janvier during earlier books, when reading [b:Angels' Pawn|17763138|Angels' Pawn (Guild Hunter #0.6)|Nalini Singh|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1397400067s/17763138.jpg|6460567] his Cajun charm is addictive. "You made me traipse through the bayou for weeks," she muttered now. "Then, right when I had you, you made nice with the angel you'd pissed off." It wasn't the first time he'd done that either. "You knew how mad that made me---why did you keep doing it?" Lifting their clasped hands, he pressed a kiss to her knuckles. "I was courting you." I mean how can you not fall for humour like that? I do love the way Nalini creates the relationships between her characters, you really do become entranced with the way the relationships grow within the books. The book is set soon after the Archangel’s Legion timeline, and includes the assignment that Ash, Janvier and Naasir were tasked with during the battle. I did think that Nalini was going to make me sob in the beginning, but thankfully my initial suspicions were not realised. The other thing that makes Nalini's series my top reads is that the supporting characters are an integral part to the story line.As with the other books, you get to know more about the other characters, which in turn makes you wish for their stories. My next Reward will be reading [b:Archangel's Enigma|17409842|Archangel's Enigma (Guild Hunter, #8)|Nalini Singh|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1427145741s/17409842.jpg|24252421]Nalini' dropped in some subtle paragraphs that give us more clues to Naasir's mysterious origins and of course we get to enjoy the Seven interact as a 'family' I loved the passage when they go to dinner at Elena's and Raphael's. There are some 'catch your breath' moments, I shed some tears, Laughed and smiled as past characters come into play. Ash has always intrigued me, and Nalini has given us a great read as we find out just what secrets she has been hiding, but not only that, we see her stength and determination as she and Janvier, with the help of the 'Tower' and 'Guild' track down the strange deaths that have too similar similarities.I have taken my time to read this book, this was a pleasure read and I didn't want it to end.But as with all good books - they are just waiting to be picked up and read again. Which I am sure I will do over and over again.#TopRead Grab your copy now!
Nalini Singh has quickly become one of my all time favorite authors, she weaves a fantastical world of Archangels, Angels, vampires and humans that is both brutal but romantic. This is book 7 in the Guild Hunter series, Archangel's Shadows focuses mainly on Elena's Guild Hunter friend Ashwini known as Ash and the Cajun a sexy vampire named Janvier. Ash and Janvier have been playing cat & mouse for years, they flirt outrageously but no one understands why they have never actually got together, including the Cajun. He's patient and is willing to fighting to discover Ash's secrets and her love. Ash is still recovering from her near fatal injury suffered fighting as one of Archangel Raphael's Shadow Team in the recent war against Archangel Lijuan. 5 brilliant stars.
