This volume really said, "Oh, you thought you understood the story? Cute."
The basement reveal completely changes everything. Learning that there is an entire world outside the Walls was insane because for the first 20 volumes we were basically told that humanity was trapped inside these walls and Titans were the enemy.
NOPE.
The history of the world, Grisha's past, Marley, Eldia... suddenly everything is political and historical and way bigger than I expected.
And Eren finally seeing the ocean should've been this beautiful, emotional moment.
Instead I'm sitting there like... why does this man look so fucking miserable? 😭
The story has officially changed genres and somehow I'm even more invested.
