Description

By 2021, the World War has killed millions, driving entire species into extinction and sending mankind off-planet. Those who remain covet any living creature, and for people who can't afford one, companies build incredibly realistic simulacra: horses, birds, cats, sheep. They've even built humans. Immigrants to Mars receive androids so sophisticated they are indistinguishable from true men or women. Fearful of the havoc these artificial humans could wreak, the government bans them from Earth. Driven into hiding, unauthorized androids live among human beings, undetected. Rick Deckard, an officially sanctioned bounty hunter, is commissioned to find rogue androids and "retire" them. But when cornered, androids fight back - with lethal force. The Inspiration for the Film BLADE RUNNER. Originally published in 1968, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? remains a masterpiece ahead of its time, a prescient rendering of a dark future.

Absolutely fantastic book! It is more about the concepts of the world, but there are just so many ideas jam packed in this story. I really love all the elements shown in this book and how they can contrast each other and are different between the different people/androids in the story. It all comes together amazingly well. It leaves you with questions about the books opinion and your own opinions of things, without feeling unsatisfied by the ending.

Mood: funny · bittersweet Pacing: medium-paced Focus: character-driven

Leer esto mientras juego Detroit Become Human fue una experiencia demasiado filosófica, la pregunta constante de qué nos diferencia de los animales, los animales electrónicos o los androides. La idea de una caja de empatía y poder controlar tus emociones me parece muy interesante.

This book left me with a lot of thoughts. Although seemingly haphazard events at first, it eventually culminates to make you really ponder on the main character’s journey in contrast with the B-plot. It’s a book that keeps you guessing until a certain point, and once you finish it you’re questioning your guesses even more.
