I really enjoyed the banter between Ilsa and Cosi, and I loved their names. I definitely didn’t expect Trick to be the killer, I was convinced it would be Robert, so the mystery delivered plenty of surprises and twists. The story is fast-paced and kept me engaged throughout.The romance, however, wasn’t quite my favorite aspect. It definitely wasn’t a slow burn; things moved very quickly, and the love scenes lasted longer than I usually prefer, with a few descriptions that felt a bit odd. The relationship felt rushed and somewhat unrealistic to me, jumping so quickly into intense passion just didn’t resonate. The whole “I must have you now” trope felt a little cheesy, though I still enjoyed Ilsa and Cosi together overall.I especially liked how Ilsa and Spencer’s relationship developed, and some of the emotional moments genuinely had me tearing up, which doesn’t happen often. I also loved how deeply Cosi cared for Ilsa from the very beginning. While I didn’t love the speed of the romance and tend to prefer a good slow burn, the mystery and suspense elements were excellent and ultimately made the book a very enjoyable read for me.
