Description

In a world where friendship intertwines with the quest for immortality, four young men find themselves drawn into a profound journey that challenges their very existence. As students at an American university, they navigate the complexities of academia and the exhilaration of youth, each grappling with their own aspirations and fears. Together, they embark on an adventure that could change everything they thought they knew about life and death.

Their bond is tested as they stumble upon an enigmatic secret that hints at the possibility of eternal life. This revelation ignites a spark of ambition and curiosity, leading them to delve deeper into ancient texts and mystical lore. As they explore the concepts of immortality, they confront not only the allure of endless existence but also the potential consequences that come with it.

Each character brings unique perspectives and backgrounds, creating both synergy and tension among them. They question the morality of their pursuit, contemplating whether the gains of immortality are worth the sacrifices demanded by such a path. As their journey unfolds, they are forced to face not only external challenges but also their internal struggles with identity, morality, and the meaning of true friendship.

In an intricate dance between the known and the unknown, they ultimately must decide what it really means to live forever. The narrative envelops readers in a thought-provoking exploration of life, death, and the essence of the human experience, leaving a lingering question in the mind of anyone who dares to consider the price of immortality.

I was taken in by the blurb and the thought of a road trip with a twist. However, after having tolerated it to page 48, I put it down and refused to read further which is v rare for me. Overtly sexual with just a constant barrage of sexual exploits of young college grads. Some of the sexual references just seemed wrong! After having got this far, I don't think I'll be trying another Silverberg for some time, if ever!
