I loved this read. It was spicy and cute at the same time. I could not put this book down at all.
Arc review Thus I ended up rewriting this review. I loved the book and I’ll put what I had prior here as well but I have more to say. First let me start by saying this is proof of Ally Avery’s mastery at the written word it’s not a criticism. I could have finished this book in four days, I finished her other one (creatures like us) in that time but I held back with this one, the reason being the “dreaded” chapters ie. Shit hits the fan before the HEA. She’s wonderful at writing them but I hate seeing her characters get hurt I also usually hate Liar revealed and secret keeping but lanes anxiety is so realistic and palpable that I ignore my usual distance for the sake of the goth boy in this book Creatures like us had those chapters and I braced for them like I’m doing here and now I do that with many books I read. Also timeline My husband is off for the holidays so I don’t get my quite days to read Perhaps it’s due to having finished “creatures like us” not to long ago that I’m comparing the two or noticing what makes Ally Avery’s books click. Bottle episodes of TV shows are when you shove the main cast in one place and make a compelling story from it And that is what makes her books click they are bottle episodes the books Throw the older brother into the house with his younger brother and goth best friend. No outside interaction just that and this is where the writing thrives The writting is smooth it’s the hot coco of books it’s comfort, smut, and well written man on man action. It’s easy to slip in toThe characters are well written realistic with out being exaggerated This book is unputdownable I actually had to slow my reading so I could savor it
