Description
This Lenten/Easter study has seven sessions--one for each Sunday of Lent, including Easter. The readings are taken from the Revised Common Lectionary, using the NRSV. The Old Testament, Epistle, and Gospel readings are used in each lesson; the Psalms reading is used occasionally.
Each reading is related to the theme of the session in which it appears and to the seasons of Lent and Easter. A brief exegesis and commentary are provided for each reading.
Readings are personal, so readers can see how they apply to their lives, both as individuals and as Christians within a group or congregation. Questions at the end of each session encourage the reader to reflect on the meaning of the reading as developed in the commentary. These questions are personal questions, not necessarily intended for group discussion. A separate Leader's Guide contains group discussion questions and lesson plans.
This resource emphasizes lectionary study.
