I love Gillian's writing and she is an auto-buy pre-order author for me. Unfortunately, this one felt like it was missing the usual spark that gets me hooked from the get go like with previous books. Despite being a parent myself, I just didn't feel a connection with either parent. This hasn't put me off Gillan's work and I will continue to pre-order her next work.
