This wasn't my favorite King's novel but it was a great read all the same. It's an odd mixture of fairy tales propped up against a tableau of Gothic aesthetics, and since it's also his first novel it remains an impressive book; only not one I'd be anxious to read again any time soon. The story as far as I'm concerned is a great study of how evil can stem freely from cultural and social roots. Being particularly interested in logotherapy, I almost made the mistake of judging Carrie White, and asking where did her free will go at the climaxing point of the novel. But then I remembered that she was only a child when all of this happened; a child who had never known anything else, and never experienced life differently. Her world was made of a claustrophobic home and a set of toxic peers. And at the end, it made me accept that regardless of the free will theory, there are still circumstances that allow the growth and evolution of evil out of social and cultural roots.
this book is awesome, i could clearly imagine everything going on and the ending was very unexpected in a way.

Carrie by Stephen King tells the story of a bullied girl who decided she wouldn't be bullied anymore. No one expected her to demonstrate it in such a gruesome way. I was able to empathize with Carrie and even understand her reasons. It was not the proper way, but I get why she did it. I felt uncomfortable during the second part since it was a lot to take, and the way it's written was kind of confusing sometimes, but I enjoyed this book. My first Stephen King's book. I'll definitely read more.
