Description

In a galaxy where the current flows with unpredictable force and determination, each person is endowed with a unique gift that shapes their destiny. Cyra, marked by her lineage as the sister to a cruel and unforgiving ruler, grapples with the challenges posed by her own powers. Her existence is a tangled web of fear, power, and the struggle for autonomy.

Amidst the chaos of her family's oppressive reign, Cyra must navigate the complexities of loyalty and resistance. Her brother's tyranny casts a long shadow, testing her resolve and pushing her to redefine her identity. The weight of her heritage is heavy, forcing her to confront the darker aspects of her abilities while seeking her own path.

As she encounters Akos, a boy with a gift that contrasts sharply with her own, Cyra's journey takes a turn. Their fates intertwine in ways neither could foresee, offering glimmers of hope and the possibility of liberation. Together, they must navigate the treacherous currents of their world, challenging the status quo and discovering what it truly means to be free. The interplay of their gifts leads to profound revelations about power, choices, and the potential for change in a universe rife with conflict.

It took many chapters until I actually got into it, but once I did... Wow. A never coming back journey. I am completely in love with the characters growth and how real they all are. I always say that books need to make you fell something, anything, or they aren't doing their job. Well, this book was way better than I anticipated. If I hadn't won it on bingo night, I would have probably missed this jewel that had me completely sucked into the skin, feelings and thoughts of Cyra and I hadn't been so invested into a book for a really long time. It was like coming up for fresh air after feeling so numb for so long. Can't wait to have my hand on the sequel.

***I voluntarily reviewed a Copy of this book for my honest review & I thank the publishers Harper Collins NZ***Quick sumaryWorld building - 3.5 out of 5Character building - 4 out of 5Writing style - 4 out of 5Keeping me reading - 3.5 out of 5Ok I think people love to hate Veronica Roth, well I never got over her killing Tris, and I have yet to read the last book in the [b:Divergent|13335037|Divergent (Divergent, #1)|Veronica Roth|http://images.gr-assets.com/books/1328559506s/13335037.jpg|13155899] series because of that - it's still sat there on my bookshelf! Maybe one day when I want my heart to break I will re-read the whole series (Or Not- I made my own ending where they run off into the sunset and make lots of little fourandthreequarters)Anyway... I have seen a lot of negativity regarding Carve The Mark... So I did some research, while I was midway through, and I guess some people take their own opinions from reading an interview text, but I can't see it and I quoted this below for you to read... I can't see anywhere where Veronica Roth said that Chronic Pain is a GIFT... the interviewer SIMON said it... she said nothing of the sort, she said that pain was underestimated, that it limited the person's potential and how the person suffering found it difficult to find people to take it (the pain) seriously. as you will see below and if you would like to read the full transcript, click
