Description
In a captivating exploration of cultural identity and the immigrant experience, the narrative follows a young art school graduate who mirrors the hopes and dreams of many Chinese students in the early 1990s. With a heart full of aspirations for a life of freedom and creativity, she embarks on a journey overseas, navigating the complexities of a new world.
As she adjusts to her surroundings, the protagonist encounters both the wonders and challenges of assimilating into a society vastly different from her own. Her experiences reflect a poignant blend of hope and nostalgia, as she grapples with the meaning of home while immersing herself in her art.
Amidst the vibrant backdrop of her new life, themes of cultural heritage emerge, particularly through the intricate art of cloisonné. This age-old craft serves as a metaphor for her journey, symbolizing the delicate balance between preserving one's roots and embracing new beginnings. Each piece she creates tells a story, weaving together the old and the new, as she searches for her place in a world that often feels at odds with her identity.
