A Rising Vol1, Issue 4 – Collector is the Fourth issue from the first volume of an anthology short story series chronicling the journey of a half wizard living in New York. The first volume covers the start of the three journeys he will take to becoming the most hunted wizard in history.
Taking place immediately after the events of issue 3, Collector brings us back to the table except this time there are no middle men. Vlad faces off against the Head of the Thorned rose Syndicate. Will this be the start of another war?
“A lovely woman,” he said as he walked boldly up to the table, “should never have to eat alone.”
“Lovely?” she said, as she turned those deep black eyes on him. “Not beautiful?” Cloaked shields kept her from feeling his own Reigh presence. A knight had snuck up on her and she was completely unaffected. Strong woman.
“Yes, lovely." He sat down. "I’ve always been a firm believer in words having specific meanings. Lovely is how you describe someone who has all the physical attributes of beauty. Beautiful is how you describe someone who has both the physical and intangible attributes. You actually have to know someone to be able to call them beautiful. I thought it would be presumptuous.”
“You are not what I expected.” She said leaning back from the menu she’d been studying, full lips curving slightly. Not a smile precisely but something like it. “One would not expect the infamous Wraith to be worried about presumption.”
