bestselling Lightlark Saga, by acclaimed author and #BookTok sensation Alex Aster
Some worlds deserve to be destroyed . . .
Isla Crown has charted a new destiny and leapt into the unknown, determined to defeat her insidious ancestor, Lark, no matter the cost. But Skyshade is nothing like she anticipated, and she’ll have to use all of her skills just to survive, let alone end Lark for good.
Meanwhile, Grim and Oro would sooner set fire to their own kingdoms than leave Isla stranded on a path toward certain death. But getting her back will involve forging an alliance—if they can find a way to forgive their long history of betrayals.
The key to Isla’s return—and the fate of the realms—lies close to her heart. But in the face of her most powerful enemy yet, will Isla be able to reconcile her past in order to carve a future of her own making?

View AllProbarly my 2nd favourite book out of the lightlark series so far. I think the plot was really interesting and different from what we've experienced so far in the series which I liked. It was a nice change of pace for me.
L'autrice a vraiment détruit son personnage en tout point, HOW COULD HE CHOOSE FUCKING CRONAN OVER ISLA, HIS WIFE 😭😭😭😭 Their love was supposed to be infinite but now I'm starting to doubt that and it pains because the ACTUAL GRIM would have NEVER acted like that !!!!!!! LIKE WTF
In this fantasy, which is the 4th book in the Lightlark Saga, Isla has to choose her destiny. Save the world or save herself? Does she truly love Grim more or does Oro really have her heart?I thought I was prepared for this book after reading the first three and investing in the love story that the trio has fallen into, but this book stretched the confidence I had in the relationships and tested the bounds of each of their connections. For me, I didn't go in rooting for Grim and Isla or Oro and Isla. I can see the good and bad in both of their bonds. They struggle to decide what's right and what's wrong, who's right and who's wrong, and if love should trump everything else is woven throughout this book.It felt like there were many solo character moments of internal questioning in this book. There's action and dialogue, of course, but it did seem a tad more introspective for each character. It felt like it built over time until it became a wave of tearing through pages to know what was going to happen next and which character's POV we were checking back in with. There's definitely some spice - not big chunks of spice, but some deeply spicy stuff. There was action, definitely, but it was a very self-reflective book. I could see some people getting a bit bored compared to the earlier books. If you like a love triangle, internal philosophical struggles, or world-hopping, you may like this book
