if this was on ao3 it'd have the tags "plot what plot/porn without plot" and "idk how to properly write a story but i tried"I enjoyed this book but the pacing was off like how did it just skip like a year and how did they have enough time to fall in love if they hardly saw each other idk and the game was not what I expected and was forgotten at times like it list it's importance cus it felt secondary in the plot ykanyway ik what i meanthe smut was so hot though
3.75 ⭐️The chemistry between the main characters is amazing and they have great banter. I do wish we would have gotten more background info on our MFC. And this seemed more insta-lovey which i wasnt crazy about but it didnt really hurt the book that much for me like it normally would. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series!

Honestly enjoyed this book all the way through. I can say I’m not turned off of the food mentioned haha. The characters are written well, the plot was interesting. Wish we got more of the murdering scenes but still content with what was provided. It was a plus to be introduced to the characters for the other books as well. Can’t wait to read them. (I’ve changed my mind on wanting to read the rest after reading the second book - 1/10/25)

I loved how their relationship developed, but I felt like the story could’ve dug a little deeper into the plot at times. Overall, it was thanks to the audiobook I listened to; otherwise, I would have DNF it in the middle.Something was lacking, which put me on hold from finishing it sooner. At some point, the story becomes boring and repetitive, as I wanted more interactions in their romantic part. The characters are amazing, and Rowan is so in love that I wish I had someone who loved me that much. He would literally burn himself for her and his laughter and accent >>>> and the stories related to their competition were good ...I don't know, through the whole book I felt that something was missing, I can't put a finger on it, but I felt it... (maybe because I wanted the story to continue more rather than jump into their romantic parts so fast)

I heard they're making a movie for this book!!! So excited for it but at the same time I don't want to watch the movie bcz what if it doesn't show how perfect this book is.Plus I hate that non readers will get to watch it but whatever.
Murder, mayhem, and a slow burn. Dark and quirky is my thing so I can't believe I waited so long to read this. I partially listened to this on audiobook and Joe Arden's voice is *swoon* worthy.
