Margot, a young, convent raised bride, is taken to her betrothed husband's home, but right from the start, things are not as she had expects them. First, the companion hired to take her to her husband seems a lot more like a governess - a very strict one. And when she arrives at her husband's home, she is instructed to call him... Papa? Margot soon learns that she is to occupy a sort of shadowy world. She is a bride...in every sense of the word, but she is also a little girl in the nursery, subject to the strictest of discipline and ministrations from both Papa and Miss Della. The hairbrush, the cane, even dreadful bottom punishments are all part of her new world. Trouble arrives, too, in the form of Papa's wicked sister, Celia, who does her best to get poor Margot in serious trouble - and succeeds. At first Celia's mischief is cruel, but not dangerous, but then, thwarted, she steps over the line and Margot finds herself in very real danger.
