4.5 ☆'sI've had this series on my 'want to read' list for about a year and now, thanks to a reading challenge and a buddy read, I finally got round to it. I really wish I hadn't left it so long as I've loved it. I went in blind as I often do, the first couple of chapters really sparked my interested and within the next couple, I was hooked! I love the mystery and intrigue of the story, from the disappearance, to the connection between characters and of course the magic. Diem our FMC is a force to be reckoned with. Not one to follow the rules, she will risk all to protect those that need it. She's a real feisty character and I enjoyed reading about her rebellious acts. The ending to many chapters, gave me a need to keep reading, unable to put it down, I was so caught up and had to know what happened next. I borrowed this copy but I already know I'm going to need a trophy copy! Another author with a brilliant debut book, I can't wait to read the next one.
It was a fun read but the fmc was a bit annoying sometimes and the plot was pretty predictable and convenient at some points.
Spark of the Everflame kicks off the series with a bang, introducing readers to a captivating world full of magic and intrigue. The world-building is top-notch, with a richly detailed setting that feels both immersive and original. The author does an excellent job of creating a vivid backdrop that draws you in and sets the stage for the story. The plot is engaging and well-paced, with a nice blend of action, mystery, and character development. The story unfolds at a steady pace, building tension and suspense as it goes. There are some exciting twists and turns that keep you guessing and eager to find out what happens next. The characters are one of the book’s strong points. The protagonist is well-developed, with a compelling backstory and clear motivations that make her journey engaging. The supporting characters also add depth to the story, each bringing their own unique traits and contributions. While the book does a lot right, there are a few moments where the plot feels a bit familiar or the pacing slows down slightly. These are minor issues, though, and don’t detract significantly from the overall experience.Overall, Spark of the Everflame is a strong start to the series. It combines a gripping plot, rich world-building, and well-drawn characters, setting up exciting possibilities for the next installments. If you’re a fan of fantasy, this is definitely a book worth picking up.
I am very intrigued to see where this story goes. I'm hoping this is the build up to a potentially great series for me. This book took a bit for me to get into, I didn't feel like I was connecting to the characters or the story until probably after 60% through when it started to get interesting! There was a lot of mystery and unanswered questions in the first half, but the last part of the book had me hooked and can't wait to see where this goes!
Sehr cooler Schreibstil. Schöne Story. Slow burn... aber hot
3.6 starsThis book…this book was terrifying for me to start. I’ve been reading books that have been on my TBR for AGES and so many of them have NOT lived up to the hype, unfortunately. But this book… it started off with promise and a good foundation. I was expecting it to be a mystery that was going to be unravelled over all of the books surrounding her mother and her lies. And in a way, so far, it has been. But this book felt like nothing happened, yet at the same time, so much happened. Luther was probably in it for about two chapters in the beginning and then nothing until the end where we see more of him. Bu the slow burn that was promised in this book…nonexistent. The relationship throughout this book was between the MC and someone she’s known since childhood but more of a sexual one than a romantic one. And the plot…honestly, there isn’t really one. It’s basically just a book without an aim, no offence, where the character just goes through her days now that her mother has disappeared. But the end…the end was SO good that it made the annoyance of the book not living up to the hype to actually be worth reading the second book. I’m hoping it’s a bit like TOG. You get past the first book and then it starts to get better and things start to align, etc and it becomes amazing. Hopefully.
Typisches enemy to lovers, aber schlecht geschrieben.
The amount of feminine rage and inner turmoil in this book kept me plastered to the pages. Discrimination, war, and political volatility undercoated a beautiful world with a beautiful story of self discovery.
YES to this book. Absolutely yes. What an absolute gem of a read. Immersive world, compelling storyline, interesting, UNIQUE characters. Finally, something different. The plot twist knocked me right off my feet. And this is a debut novel? Wow! Loved it.
