I was a little apprehensive about this instalment of the series, I wasn't sure how I felt about Jeremy and Cecily as main characters and as a couple. It also took me a little time to understand the overlapping timeline in that things happening in Wrath were happening at the same time as Malice and Pain. I did get used to that but it just took some time as in some instances I had to think about what had happened in the other books, which did take away from some of the experience. As for Jeremy and Cecily, they absolutely did suit each other and getting Cecily's back story really helped put her personality into perspective. Given Jeremy's past struggles with his mom and her mental health when he was a child I felt that in his own way he was the best person to be there for her and help her heal from her demons and I believe she helped him deal with his in regards to his mother and as a result he let the resentment he had for her go and he could truly dee the strength his mother had to overcome her struggles to be there for her family. One of my favourite thing from the books in this series is the POV from the dads towards the end of the book. Always has me in stitches. Definitely another that I would recommend in this series.
3.5 rating overall. This book...this book had so much potential to be nearly as good as God as Malice. It started off in the way that Malice did...the same aura, energy, etc, but it quickly delved from there. It's not that I didn't like the characters. I did, in a way, I just absolutely hate the kink that this book has. I get that everyone has their own kinks; but this was basically saying r**pe me and I didn't particularly like that. It sort of made me a little sick when we got to the s*x scene because it felt like he sort of was. Don't get me wrong, the other scenes afterwards were fine, but it took me a LOT longer to finish reading this book because I had to prepare myself. And, honestly, I probably would have stopped reading it if I wasn't interested in seeing where the rest of the books went. Not only that, but when you get about halfway through the book, this is where it begins to entwine with God of Pain so it skips over a lot of details, leaving me confused about where I am after the jump. Such as Cecily helping to kidnap Annika. From here, it sort of got a bit annoying because it was a bit of back and forth between the characters until the end, which was sort of predictable. There's also a trend i've been noticing between all of the men in the books. They are possessive, jealous, angry, etc, and it's beginning to become annoying. I understand there's going to be similarities between the men because of the type of books this is, but it's the same sort of possessiveness that I wish wasn't in every single book because it's beginning to become repetitive.
3 starsIt has officially been over a year since I read this series, so I'm going back to it and adjusting my ratings to be accurate.I fear I don't understand jeremy fans. I didnt love jeremy, or cecily. they were both so unmemorable for me. this book was just so meh for me personally. I mean i enjoyed parts of it. the highlight of this book was at the end when Ilya tells cecily there jeremy is dying just bc hes done with their bs. 😭 siiiiigh. jeremy. I did not like him one bit. maybe if he had liked cecily more but I felt like a lot of the book was just him being pissed at landon or him being pissed that she liked landon at one point even though im pretty sure she literally said she wasnt sure she ever actually liked lan (I could be wrong about that considering i read this in dec 2024 and its currently April 2026). idk. it felt more like jeremy and lan should've made out than jeremy and cecily at timesidk. I wasnt a fan of cecily either. I mean theres nothing wrong with her but she just didnt stick out to me that much.overall no hard feelings to the jere fans but he is not for me at all. anything is better than killian though.(he gets a bit of a plus for being niko's best friend though. loved him in god of fury. like YES you are so right niko doesnt deserve to be hidden. love bran ofc, more than any other rina character ever, but niko def needed to hear that at that point of the book.)
