when it comes to articulating my thoughts and saying how i feel i have about half a brain cell so here we go people. this is a half assed attempt at that.if i had to describe this book i'd go with annoyingly disappointingannoying because i was rolling my eyes at every attempt at justifying the main character's action and disappointing because despite all of my thoughts and feelings i was ready for a big pay off. something that would make the time and money i spent in order to experience this story worth it, but as you can see i was proven wrong.to be honest with you most of my disappointment comes from my own expectation of this author. he's a well known best-selling thriller author and people praise him left and right , so there must be something about his work, right? well sadly that wasn't the case for me.the story opens with the main character, Nap, anonymously bashing someone in because they were an abuser to a woman who had fled and taken sanctuary in Nap's best friend's shelter. now i have nothing to say about this matter, all i'm going to say is that Nap is a police officer and he is not the person who should be dealing out punishment but also i hate men so i don't really care.this whole story just proves to you why acab is a thing. why no one trusts the gov and why men aren't worth it. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhanyway 15 years ago Nap's twin and his girlfriend are found by the railroad and it's said that they were either going for a double suicide or the result of the drugs they were high on (LSD)Nap's girlfriend runs away three days later and Nap never gets over neither the gf leaving nor the death of his brother. now the brother's death i get bc he was his twin! they were together since the day they were born and he never really gets much of an explanation.but the gf!!!!! it made me so mad. he keeps saying shit about how he's "just trying to get an answer" or whatever but his behavior is one of a stalker. he's a whole walking red flag.i can even get over the crappy characters. this is a work of fiction and a thriller. i'm not going to live the rest of my life with them, they can be as terrible as they can get and i probably wouldn't care as long as the plot is good. it wasn't.i was bored the whole time and i was screaming at the characters for most things they did. at some point there was a mention of 9/11 nd Iraq war and i was so worried it was going to become the main pot point, that it was going to somehow turn racist but i'm glad it didn't. i hated the reveal. so much. in my opinion it wasn't good enough or captivating enough. the author tried too hard to tangle every reveal and clue together to idk distract the audience? and then the culprit was revealed and i thought wow all that work was for nothing.anywaysssssss i'm gonna stop now. i'm not gonna tell anyone not to read this but i'm gonna say that it's not really worth it.
