And she does it again! Wow! What an eyeopener of a book!Having watched a couple of the TV shows that Lisa references in the authors notes, I was already aware of the sneaky people pulling these scams and just how utterly convincing they can be. The games they play to reel you in, before slowly leaving you destroyed, often without you even realise anything is wrong until its too late.I'm aware that this book might not be for some. It's an uncomfortable subject to be reading. I know that for people on the outside looking in, you might find those targeted to be too trusting, the storylines to be too far fetched. But I believe that Lisa has truly shone a light on these disgusting crimes and shows that it doesn't matter what age, status, or personal circumstances you are. It's still possible to be a target. It is because of how well this was written and the thought that went into the characters that I loved it so much. I also loved the style this is written in. Hearing the scammer/abuser, describing the goings on over the four years from his point of view, was really interesting. Meanwhile, seeing it play out and be brought up to present-day allowed the reader to see how he managed to play his twisted game, as he got his claws into those poor unsuspecting women. There was a lot to take in, and a lot of characters involved. However, I was so invested in the story that I needed to keep reading on, and therefore was able to keep track of who was involved and how.I did worry that the ending was going to leave a few unanswered questions and a cliffhanger. Thankfully, that wasn't the case, I don't know how I would have coped having to wait on a part 2! I hope that as a result of reading this, anyone who finds similarities between the women in this book and themselves, find the strength to be able to reach out for support to find out how to put an end to it.
