I had inadvertently read the sequel [b:Virgin Earth|16184|Virgin Earth|Philippa Gregory|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1347745424s/16184.jpg|1628125] before I read this one but it didn't matter. This story covers the period from 1603 - 1638 during the reign of King James and King Charles I but focuses on the life of John Tradescant the gardener to lords.I really enjoy Phillipa Gregory's style of writing and her storytelling. I like stories that cover long time periods to reveal the whole life of a character. I read up about the historical characters after finishing a book to see the accuracy of the story. Obviously there will be some level of artistic licence but generally I am pleased to see that events appear close to reality. All in all another very enjoyable book, I was taken in enough so that I went out and bought loads of tulips (the book made me look at tulips in a different light!).
