Ecozoa

Ecopoetry is new poetry for a new age of awareness and Helen Moore is a leading light in this probing, ground breaking genre. Imagine if we were to create a more constructive and hopeful alternative to the human-centred Anthropocene, named by the great theologian Thomas Berry as the Ecozoic Era. In this new era we will live in harmony with the Earth as our community, in great contrast to the ravages caused by the growth and impacts of industrial civilisation on our planetary ecosystems. The word ecozoic has its root in the Greek 'zoe', meaning life. In William Blake's unfinished book 'The Four Zoas', mythology points to the power of the imagination to address the ecological crisis we face. Moore contemporises this vision, showing how rebalancing four zoas can enable us to connect with the heart, and get to the root of our problems. In this way, fear and limited thinking can fall away, opening up liminal spaces where our love of freedom can flourish and collectively we can sense the evolving futures we most desire. As Berry reminds us, the Ecozoic Era is a phenomenon we must will into being . ECOZOA unflinchingly, often humorously addresses themes such fracking & climate change; resource depletion & species extinction from unchecked industrial capitalism ; a celebration of the power of interconnection in the Gaian vision; the many facets of the feminine and the beauty of Mother Earth.
