Description

Efficient Computation Using Self-Reconfiguration introduces the technique of "self-reconfiguration" and illustrates how it can be used to compute more efficiently, in terms of area and time, compared with existing modes of computation. Self-reconfiguration refers to modification of logic configured on a reconfigurable device by the device itself, without any external intervention. Efficient Computation Using Self-Reconfiguration discusses the design and implementation of a reconfigurable device that self-reconfigures efficiently, along with the mapping onto the above device of algorithms that utilizes self-reconfiguration to compute efficiently. Improvements in computation efficiency in terms of area and time through the use of self-reconfiguration are clearly illustrated by simple examples within this book. Features required in a reconfigurable device for it to efficiently support self-reconfiguration are also addressed.
