Loved the characters. Plot twists and very entertaining. Very well written.
I really enjoyed this book. BUT, I felt like there was a very slow beginning, and I wasn't really as captivated as I was with The Wicked King and The Queen of Nothing, but nevertheless I think it is a really good book. 4.5 stars (I took off the points because I wasn't really into it).
🍷4.5 stars👑When I first heard of The Cruel Prince, I actually DNF'ed it, because I thought it was romance main plot (typical rookie mistake). I read about Cardan and his little gang of friends and I thought "absolutely not?? what the heck??" but I was SO WRONG. Picking up this book again, I thought I would have to grit my teeth and push through it because everyone else hates this book -- and I did too, at some point. And now, look at how far I've come -- from a DNF to a five-star read.🫰Obviously the characters! Jude is such a badass FMC and she is everything I aspire to be -- strong, independent but still has kindness and love in her heart. I started off not liking Cardan but uh, clearly that was a mistake too -- I just love how sarcastic and arrogant he is. And HM to Vivi, Oak and the Roach, who are my favourite side characters.🫰The relationships between the characters. I know romance is just a subplot, but it was so well done -- and also, the friendships and sisterhood as well. Shout out to Chapter 14 and 26.👍The plot itself -- "Fae politics" sounded so boring to me, but it was actually extremely interesting. I was hooked and kept craving more.👎The ending was a tiny bit underwhelming. I expected a bigger plot twist and cliffhanger because I got confused and thought that the ending was part of their plan. Might've been my fault, but still...
I seriously love this book, the chracter building is just beautiful, at some parts i did struggle to stay enthralled in the story but just as quickly as i was lost i was brought back in again. Loved it
Wasn't planning on rereading but I started the audio book and I wanted to also read it, so here we are. Wonderful story.
Okay this books slaps. And I was so wrong. Again.Lemme rewind, I read this book at the end of 2021. I am writing this review in 2023 because well, I was slack with Goodreads back then. I did however, journal my reviews. And let me tell you, I WAS A DUMB BITCH back then. I gave this book 3.5 stars originally, now I know at the time I was forcing myself to read when I was busy in life which might have been part of it, but this is one of the series that I literally still think about now, to this day.I am obsessed and definitely the key audience for Holly Blacks writing style, love it, will die for it.Her descriptions of fae, the fae world and just her world building in general, is beautiful and I love it. Its a bit different from basically every fae book Ive read and it feels more real, if that makes sense.Sure I didnt give this book 5 stars, but thats ONLY because this series gets better.Im about to do another re-read too. Highly recommend.->4.5 stars
Okay......it took a little to pick up and I found a lot of the story to be similar to other stories I have read ...overall I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the rest
A lot of cussing, one of the main characters, is LGBT. The story plot is awesome, but all the other stuff ruined it for me
Alot of ppl hated this book because it was "boring". I dont find it boring, the book just got better n better, so therefore ill give this a 4.5/5 ⭐
