View AllWhile action-packed and still tense, this one did not capture me immediately like Drowning did. Rather than having that “can’t put it down” feeling, I found myself not caring to pick it up and easily distracted when I did. I’m not really sure why. All the parts were there, they just weren’t working together for me. For as much action as there was, I was bored. I wanted to know how it would all work out in the end… but more like I wanted to just skip to the back of the book to find out. I did think the inclusion of real life world events was cool and made it feel more real and immersive and I think that it had some thought-provoking themes about racism/sterotyping and American privilege and ignorance/inaction. Not sure I would have regretted DNFing though.
