View Alli originally read this book and the second book in the series in 2014 right before the third book was released, but because it had been so long since i read them, it really was like reading them again for the first time. there were some things i remembered, but for the most part, this was almost like a whole new experience for me, which was fun.i love all the characters in this so much. they're all so fascinating. though it's quite clear to me that magnus damora is based off of francois arnaud's portrayal of cesare borgia in the showtime tv show, the borgias. that's one of my fav shows, so i saw a lot of parallels between this book and that show. even so, magnus damora is one of my fav if not my very fav characters, but i love lucia and cleo and jonas too!!a lot of aspects of the plot remind me of the borgias, but it also reminds me of throne of glass - which is interesting since throne of glass was released during the same time period these books were released (2012-2018) - and game of thrones. the linework itself is what you would expect for your average YA fantasy novel, but it keeps you engaged and wanting to read more, which is always something i value in a book as a person who has adhd and has to take adderall to be able to read without forgetting things and getting distracted.i'm really excited to see where this story goes since i've never read books 3-6 before, especially since the last time i read this, i was completely baffled as to how this might end. i Do think i have an idea of how it will end now because i'm over 10 years older than i was the last time i read this, but even so i'm enjoying the ride and i can't recommend it enough if you are a fan of throne of glass, game of thrones, or the borgias.
3.5 starsA good book but never really captured me until the end. That being said, I couldn't stop reading it, and I'm quite excited to read the sequel.
Ya lo había leído cuando chica pero olvidé lo entretenido y fácil de leer que es. Me encanta.
