Another CoHo I finished in one sitting and, yet again, another CoHo punch to the gut. Her stories never fail to make me cry and this one hit a little close to home. Sky and Holder have an intense connection from the moment they meet and realize their lives are more entwined than they could have imagined. The first half reads like a cute highschool romance but then the second half takes you on a heart wrenching ride. Another solid read from CoHo about self-discovery, raw childhood trauma, and knowing that sometimes knowing the truth can feel more hopeless than believing the lies.
Wow. Read this book in one day, much to the dismay of my family and things that needed to get done. I even got annoyed when I got interrupted, which is rare. This book has the feels though. There were only maybe 2-3 instances the main character annoyed me, but they were brief, luckily. Otherwise the plot and storyline for this book was fantastic. There are some topics in the books others may want to avoid due to their nature so please be mindful of that and any trigger warnings. Overall I thought this book was well done.
I'm going to make this short and sweet, I liked this book better than November 9, purely for the fact that the character Dean Holder had reasons to keep certain information from Sky. But I can see a pattern in the male protagonists in both books. Don't get me wrong, I love Colleen Hoover and her writing. I've devoured this book in a day, I need sleep now. Sky, I'm glad she wasn't a simpering female needing saving... She was strong, in both dealing with her past and also not allowing that past to stop her having a future.I think the subject matter of the book has been done well. It Left me questioning how I would be in Karen's shoe's... And I think that unfortunately this subject happens too often, and I do like how Ms Hoover has highlighted how our system often let's the victim down.I'm actually amazed that I didn't cry more with the book, but I'd quickly worked out most of the plot before it was revealed so maybe that was why... Or it could be because I was having a horrible week and I've cried myself dry in reality that there's not enough left for fiction. Not sure if I want to read losing hope just yet.. but maybe someday (haha did you get that pun)Ok sleep 💤 😊
This book went from almost being my favorite book to well, not. The first 60% of the book was amazing but as the truth unfolded things became too much to handle. Trigger warnings are super important with this book. I wish I had looked up trigger warnings for this book... Lets just say the triggers kept adding up. Too much trauma piled up all at once. The ending was good but I cant look at it solely over a good ending and a good start.
Not ur normal reviewSo this is my first Colleen Hoover book! I know what ur thinking has this chick been living under a rock! Well truth be told I wanted to Read slammed when it came out but I wasn't sure if it would be to high school for my reading taste. I keep reading such great reviews but for some reason I never bought it to read. I follow her on Facebook and Twitter and she is a super awesome author. So why am I not reading her books... Last week there was a post with an interview with Nick Bateman and he talks about doing a movie that is originally a book the way he talked about it peeked my interest so I go and look it up its 7.99 and I am sure it worth far more. author work so hard on these stories but needless to say I can't afford it right now. I start scrolling through and come across Hopeless and I just so happen to have purchased it in 2014...so at first I am thinking ok maybe I have read one of her books and I start to read and soon find I have not read it. I am hooked first 3 pages and I couldn't put it down. Wow Colleen Hoover I am sorry I am so late to the party but the way you write, the feelings u made me feel, the way I felt connect to these people, thank you for your words and your talent in telling a emotional story! I will end in Saying don't be like me and not read her books because I have read some not so great ones when I could have been reading these amazing ones!
