Description

View AllAnother win from Katee Robert. Sexy, intense, and an amazing reinterpretation.
I think I liked Electric Idol a lot more than I did Neon Gods. This book is intense with a heavy plot but there are numerous sweet moments between Eros and Psyche. In Neon Gods, I was aware of the general story (if you don't know the story of Hades and Persephone, where have you been?) but I didn't know the story of Eros and Psyche in great detail. However, I don’t think my not knowing the ins and outs of their story took away from this reading experience. All in all, I love Robert's socialite interpretation of the mythology.
The second in her series, Dark Oympus, comes a modern retelling of the myth of Eros and Psyche, infused with a delightful blend of romance and spice. The chemistry between the main characters, Eros and Psyche, is palpable right from the start, making it hard to put the book down. This book definitely delivers on the heat! Expect some steamy scenes that are both sensual and well-written, adding depth to the romance without overshadowing the plot. However, there are some intense scenes that may be unsettling for some readers.Still, Electric Idol is a must-read for fans of contemporary romance with a twist, offering a tantalizing mix of mythology and modernity. If you're looking for a book that balances spice with substance, this one is definitely worth picking up!Trigger Warnings: themes of betrayal, explicit sexual scenes, violence, emotional manipulation, mild gore, and family dysfunction.***A solid 4 out of 5 on the spice meter***
