Flickering Light Tales

I am offering my collection of fairy tales and stories from the 1,001 Arabian Night's Entertainment to those who love these stories and wish to either enjoy them again or share them with others. The stories are retellings of these stories with no changes from the originals except that I have taken the nineteenth century sensibilities and style and updated it for young people. I am a retired teacher and these are stories that I reworked for my classes. I noticed when I was sharing these stories that often the tellings were so so sparse that children had a difficult time in creating the necessary imaging. I believe that this is a result of our society's integration of the video experience into all facets of our lives. Without the ability to "See" the story, the stories become stilted and hard for young people to enjoy. The collection consists of Hansel and Gretel, Rapunzel, Beauty and the Beast and others as well as Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, and The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor as well as others. Primarily written for adults to read to children, I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed writing and reading them to my classes.
