Description

Nick has always been cleverer than most of his teachers, let alone his classmates. But now that he has reached the fifth grade, he must face gray-haired Mrs. Granger, the toughest teacher in the school. Nick decides to teach Mrs. Granger his own lesson in vocabulary by inventing a brand-new word. But when the other kids can't get enough of his idea, he learns how a harmless experiment can quickly spin out of control -- and how one person has the power to change society's way of thinking.

Reading this book in Grade School is probably one of the few things the education system did right. This book is fun and enjoyable but it also succeeded at communicating the theme that you can be an active participant in your own education. This was powerful because it literally empowered young students.
