Greater Love

Greater Love is a story of the Underground Railroad in Upstate New York. By 1853, the well –traveled route carrying fugitives from Albany to the Niagara frontier was under assault. Armed with the authority of the Fugitive Slave act, legions of vicious slave-catchers were unleashed across the northern states. In the village of Little Falls a small family of runaway slaves barely escapes arrest at the A.M.E. Zion Church. Former mayor and congressman Arphaxad Loomis volunteers to help Enoch Moore in transporting the mother, father and two boys to safety at a nearby farm. They try to escape detection in a heavy snowstorm, but are betrayed to a band of slave-catchers. In a desperate flight across frozen fields and woods, Loomis brings the Abraham family to a large cavern where he hopes they can hide from their pursuers. When the men from the South their way into the cavern, the father of the family refuses to allow his wife and sons to be taken back into bondage.
