Description

*light spoilers*Habibi is . . . beautiful. Truly just beautiful. I can’t express this enough. Intriguing entry into our story. Telling us this is a story of hope and darkness. The time during the separation of the two main characters was an interesting journey. We watch these characters change and evoke throughout the story and try to move on and find hope when it seems there is none. When the two of them come back together I felt this strong sense of relief and hope. The way the stories and ideas from the Bible and other myths (even alchemy) come together in each chapter was amazing, and relates to the expanding plot of that chapter. The way Craig Thompson blends and weaves time and places together in this book is similar to the patterns of the book. The art styles and drawings of the book was amazing, it’s so beautiful done. Sometimes I would just stare in amazement at the pages because they seemed to be animated. So beautiful. Couldn’t get enough of them. The way the writing of the transcript weaving and curving into bodies, environments, people, etc was so immaculate.
