View AllGods should never meddle in the affairs of mortals, but Xie Lian is not one to follow the rules.
This book follows Xie Lian a prince that ascended as a god three times. This book picks up right after his third ascention, where he caused some damage to the god realm. To pay for the damage he decides to take up a mission to find out why brides keep disappearing in this one village.
I was suprised by how good this book ended up being. I have never read any chinese fantay and don't know alot about the culture or myths, but it didnt seem to cause to much of a problem. The characters were all suprisingly funny and I enjoyed the time spent with them. I also really liked Xie Lian, it was funny seeing how characters interact with him, since he seemed pretty normal, but they all act like he is crazy. There were many moment where I caught myself laughing out loude due to something someone said, which not a lot of books do that to me. I did think the book ended pretty abrupt, but since this is part of a large continuous story it may just be a regionalization issue. I also thing its important to note that this book can be a bit graphic. It does not shy away from gore and there were some parts were I either skimmed or skipped because I was to squeamish.
