Started reading this book randomly in the library and wasn't able to think about anything else after I left. I didn't know it was supposed to be a prequel, so I read it with no other knowledge of the other books. Still, it was so captivating, I devoured it in just a few hours, and cried at the end, of course. It isn't necessary to have read Six Crimson Cranes to enjoy this story, but it definitely made me want to read the whole series.
