View AllI received His After Dark by Airicka Phoenix for an honest review. His After Dark is part of a Jefferson After Dark Short novellas. The story follows Edith, a woman who has been in love with her best friend Kate’s father Jake for years, but has never been able to do anything about those feelings. Kate who has moved to the other side of the globe asks Edith to search for her diary from her place which she has forgotten before her move. Not finding the diary, Edith ends up in Jake’s room who isn’t home and she gives in to the temptation on his bed. She is so distracted that she doesn’t notice when she isn’t in the room alone anymore. Jake has arrived home earlier than planned and watches her, and records and takes photos of her and what she is doing on his bed. He uses them to blackmail her to get what he has also wanted for years, to have her to himself. Jake is an MMC I loved from the very beginning because of how intense, unhinged and obsessed he is of Edith and the moments between them made me all giddy. Edith is also someone who I liked, even though some of her personality traits were at times a bit annoying, but understandable. The spice was burning hot and the tropes were everything I enjoy when I am reading smutty books. The story was so good that I ended up highlighting so many parts that I think I have never done so much even for longer full length books! Airicka always amazes me how well she writes spicy scenes, but also includes a good plot, even when the story itself is short, without making the story feel hurried. I will give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
