Description

In a chilling narrative that explores the darkest corners of human nature, the story unfolds with a young girl limping out of the forest, barely clinging to life. Her harrowing escape from abduction sets off a gripping pursuit filled with uncertainty and fear. With a stark contrast between the innocence of childhood and the brutality of her captors, readers are drawn into her torment and resilience, chronicling her struggle as she tries to reclaim her freedom.

As investigators delve into the mystery surrounding her abduction, they uncover a web of deceit and treachery that extends far beyond the initial crime. Each character is crafted with depth, revealing their hidden motives and moral complexities. The tension rises as the clock ticks, creating a race against time where every second counts in the fight for the truth and justice.

The narrative not only examines the psychological scars of trauma but also highlights themes of redemption and hope. Against a backdrop of fear, the girl's journey serves as a testament to the strength of the human spirit, and the lengths one will go to find solace amidst chaos.

I enjoyed the investigation side of the story but the twist didn't  land for me. I wasn't convinced by the killer's motivation, and the ending wrapped everything up too quickly.I'll probably give the next book a go and see if the series grows on me though.

Very interesting original premise, I don't think I've seen this in movies or other books. I liked the fast pace of the story. It got a bit confusing because it took me a bit to understand whose POV I was reading from at the beginning of each chapter (and there are a lot of POVs). Can't say I'm defective Grace's biggest fan, but I don't think I'm supposed to be. Easy to read, fast paced, wrapped up a bit too quickly.
