View AllDNF at 51%Started off with a nice prose, even though it got lost in the sauce sometimes. Lore was interesting, vibes were vibing. Then Kidan just kept showing up on the page, as main characters tend to do, and kept making me want to tear my hair out.Susenyos...respect my dude! You're a vampire with a lot more patience and restraint than me.Kidan has two brain cells: cell 1 - JUNE!; cell 2 - SUSENYOS DID IT! Whatever it was. Now, I didn't get to figure out if Susenyos actually did it...but I lost interest a while ago.Kidan keeps complaining about having to study Dranacti...but then complains "Why did no one tell me this? They're withholding information on purpose!". Noo, honey...No. Not to mention people actually tell her important stuff and she just completely forgets about it. It's just a convoluted mess. A shame, because with the lore, this could have been interesting.
This world of dark academia, with vampires and a sentient house, was intriguing but didn’t hook me like I expected. It was written in that way where you can tell the author is aiming for beautiful, lyrical prose but it just comes across as confusing, riddled dialogue instead. None of the characters were very likable and I didn’t connect with any of them enough to really care what happened to them. The dynamic between all of the characters- especially the FMC and MMC- was just weird and confusing. It took a while to understand the world-building and lore but I did find it interesting enough to want to keep reading to find out what would happen. I hate that it ended up ending with a cliffhanger because I don’t know that I’ll continue the series.
3.5⭐Overall, it was good and intriguing but the pacing was a big issue of mine
