Description

In the vibrant world of Kekon, jade is far more than just a precious stone; it is a powerful source of magic that shapes the lives and fortunes of its inhabitants. The island's dual forces—the No Peak and Ayt Clan—are locked in a fierce struggle for dominance, each using jade to enhance their abilities and assert their influence. The stakes are high, and loyalty is paramount as familial ties and friendships are tested in pursuit of power.

Conflict erupts as the balance of power shifts, leading to brutal confrontations and deep betrayals. The clansmen and women must navigate a treacherous landscape filled with ambition, rivalry, and the ever-present lure of the jade that can elevate or destroy them. Throughout the turmoil, characters grapple with their identity and the weight of their choices, making allegiances that could alter the course of their families for generations.

As the story unfolds, the rich cultural tapestry of Kekon reveals itself, showcasing a society where tradition and progress collide. With strands of loyalty and ambition interwoven, they must confront the question of what it truly means to possess power—and at what cost it comes. The journey is as much about self-discovery as it is about the control of jade, making for a tale that resonates deeply within the psyche of its characters.

Both the plot and the narration are top notch. I’m an avid reader of epic fantasy, but I’m generally not that fond of urban fantasy; however, I’m very happy to report that I thoroughly enjoyed this one and will definitely continue with the series.
