When the mutilated body of a young female student turns up in downtown New York there appears to be no obvious motive for her murder. But when a second body turns up with the same grotesque injuries it confirms to detectives Art Gardiner and his partner Gina Garcia that they are hunting down a perverted serial killer. With limited resources to work with, and a lack of forensic evidence to help identify the killer, Art's fiery temper soon has the tensions within his own team on the boil. So how, with no suspect in sight, and no evidence to go on, does he get the case moving?
