View AllThis is a very long book but worth (almost) every page and gains 5 stars from me.I love the way it is written, the characters are developed in great depth and I particular like the Dickens-esque comical descriptions of them and their thoughts throughout the story. The ideas of the author, particular the 'world' which she has created, are fantastic. It always amazes me how someone can come up with these ideas as I just don't have that imagination. There were some chapters during the middle which I thought were a little slow and probably longer than necessary but it soon picked up so that this didn't matter in the slightest.Fantastic. Big shame that it is the authors only novel although I will straight away obtain her short stories set in the same world [b:The Ladies of Grace Adieu and Other Stories|15161|The Ladies of Grace Adieu and Other Stories|Susanna Clarke|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1312041234s/15161.jpg|3088909]
