View All*baby's first manga*This almost made me cry a few times. I relate to the MMC so much. I Want to Eat Your Pancreas was a really wholesome story. The art was well done and the translation was pretty good. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try manga without making a commitment to a series.
This was my first physical manga, and after reading it, I can say it was just okay. There was nothing new or unique about the story—it felt like a rehash of things I’ve seen before in anime, manga, and even Hollywood movies. The premise is simple: a reserved, introverted guy meets an outgoing, lively girl who wants to change him. It’s a trope that has been used countless times, and this manga doesn’t do anything fresh with it.One major issue I had was how predictable everything was. From the way the characters interacted to how the story unfolded, there were no surprises. Even the ending, which was supposed to have an emotional impact, felt basic and expected. There was no depth to the story—it all felt very surface-level, without any real emotional weight.I also recognize that I’m not the target audience for this manga. It’s clearly aimed at younger teens, maybe around 13 or 14, and I’m in my 20s. But even if I look at it objectively from the perspective of its intended audience, I still think it lacks originality. Any teenager who has consumed a decent amount of media would probably find the story just as predictable as I did.The artwork was decent. There wasn’t much that stood out, but that’s expected for a story like this. However, there were a few panels that caught my attention and were visually appealing. Still, nothing exceptional.Overall, this manga is fine if you’re new to this type of story or haven’t read/watched much in this genre. But if you’ve already seen similar plots before, you won’t find anything new here. It’s a quick, easy read, but ultimately, it didn’t leave any lasting impact.
