Kitchen has a special spot in my heart.I picked it up at just the right time, when I was navigating loss and searching for something to hold onto. Yoshimoto’s writing, with its quiet tenderness and flowing simplicity, felt like a warm hug. The story’s gentle pace gave me the space to breathe, and its quiet exploration of grief, love, and healing brought a kind of clarity I was looking for. There’s something profoundly comforting in how the characters move through their sorrow, not in a dramatic way, but in small, everyday gestures that somehow speak volumes. It’s a short read, but it will echo for a long time. If you're going through a time of transition or just need a story that understands the weight of loss without drowning in it, Kitchen might find you the way it found me.
