BoneshakerreviewCharacters: Quite a colorful and unique cast of characters and quit a lot of characters and names you have to keep track of. Briar and Zeke are the two main protagonists. Zeke is your usual common boy in a story 15, reckless, and well a boy Mrs. Briar on the other hand is not someone you come across in (if one is to assume this is YA) YA fiction she is a mother, 35, and can hold her own and kick major butt. The side characters are brilliant, very colorful, even vibrant and they stand out just as much as the MC's of this story AStory: what would happen if you mixed “Treasure planet” “ the little mermaid two” Zombies, and peter pan together? You would get something like this..kinda... you have the steampunk and characteristics of treasure planet, zombies, the plot of little mermaid two (mother looking for child) and the world of homeless underground type thing from peter pan (OK that was a big stretch). The ink is in brown and can be a bit alarming however your eyes get used to it and its no worse then reading shiver or linger which also has colored font. This story is like a roller coaster slow as anything then so fast you don't want to stop then it halts stalls and gets going slow again and the pattern continues. It is a third person perspective told in two POV's or two different sides one from the mothers side the other from the sons you can tell the difference by the pictures on the top of the chapter the lantern is the son the goggles the mother its quite interesting. This story is action, adventure, mystery, the zombies are a side thing as is the prolog and epilog. This story bends and pulls the boarder of (if one is to assume this is YA) YA literature having a mother not only present but as one of the MC's and very active in the story. CCover: Briar on the front cover with her goggles you can see two aircrafts reflected in her goggle lenses. This is a very different kind of cover one you might see on an adult book with very dismal browns, bronze, golds, and grays with just a hint of pink and green. She looks like someone oil painted her the goggles are very detailed and the font for the story is very wild west with a hint of dystopian CRating: “ A sci-fi essential book” Honestly can't find anywhere what it would be It's either older YA (16+) or adult look around long and hard though because for the most part you get no rating (na-da not on amazon or goodreads) the one library has it Fiction > sic-fi so whether that tells you anything or not is up for debateCompany: A tor bookMy rating : 3 of 5 this is a happy to be over with book this is not a book for everyone nor is it an easy book to get into not because of the fighting or gore but more because of the pace the slow slow slow almost dragging pace however the writing is one of a kind magnificent and is one of the reasons I finished this in the first place. I enjoyed some parts others really really dragged way to long this was a grit your teeth and finish read for me my mom loved it giving it 4 out of 5 stars but when I first asked she also gave it a three. Part of what throws me off is there is NO RATING for this book with that I have n idea how to view it do I view it as a YA? If so then it was dull for a YA do I view it as an Adult book? If so then it wasn't half bad. I want to know the rating for this dang it!
