This is the first Laidlaw novel, and my last. Given the chance there would a statue of the man in George Square. I, however, do NOT bow down the massive ego that people have given him over the years. First book of tartan noir? Nope. There is Jardine, Rankin, and McBride. Especially Iain Rankin. This book is a book of the 1970s and it reads like that.
