Large Language Models And The Software Life-Cycle: A Double-Edged Sword

Large Language Models have taken the world of research and recently the world at large by storm. Many promise utopic opportunities for software engineering that spawn from this new technology, however little thought has gone into the possible consequences of its adoption. In this book, we explore opportunities for Large Language Models in software engineering as well as state-of-the-art approaches and technologies and discuss what their may be holding them back long-term. An emphasis is put on the dangers of mindless integration of LLMs into the software life-cycle in regard to their fundamental limitations.
