Having a fling isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially when both parties are on the same page and aren’t looking for a commitment. But what happens when one party catches feelings, while the other is terrified of commitment—and then ends up pregnant? Woi! What a calamity! 😂
Well, that’s the setup for Fitz Silver and Jennifer Stone in Melissa Foster’s latest release, The Trouble With Flings.

I went into this book with high expectations, and Foster did not disappoint. Jennifer, a high school principal and a commitment-phobe for very good reasons, was a character I enjoyed getting to know. Her backstory revealed why she was so determined to keep people at arm’s length, and it was fulfilling to watch her confront those fears and finally embrace her newfound happiness.
Fitz was enamored with Jennifer from their first hookup, but she wanted nothing to do with him beyond their fling. She pushed him away and had no intention of entertaining any further communication. But fate had other plans when they unexpectedly crossed paths in Costa Rica. One week of passionate bliss later, and things became a whole lot more complicated.
Jennifer pulled, but Fitz pushed. Slowly, he broke down her walls brick by brick. She kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, but Fitz proved that he was in it for the long haul and that she could trust what they were building.
Fitz and Jennifer’s journey was relatively drama-free, but that didn’t mean it lacked emotion. Their relationship was filled with plenty of feelings, vulnerability, and moments that made their journey enjoyable to follow. I especially loved the family interactions, which added depth to the story, and it was fun reconnecting with characters from previous books

The Trouble With Flings was a sweet and emotional romance about overcoming fears, taking chances, and finding love when you least expect it. I loved watching Jennifer evolve and finally allow herself to believe that happily-ever-after was possible for her.

Fitz and Jennifer’s story was an enjoyable read from beginning to end, and once again, Melissa Foster delivered a romance filled with heart, chemistry, and characters you can’t help but root for
